The big three-jaw puller is too fat.
The little two-jaw puller is too weak.
:p was hoping to not have to buy another puller, but this looks like a dead end. I can’t replace the leaking gasket if I can’t get that gear off.
-update-
Success! Sort of.... It still doesn’t want to come off. :|
I heated it... I wrenched on it with the breaker bar... I used the impact wrench on the puller to get the crank pulley off, but this a lighter-weight gear and I don’t know if I dare... Damnit.

Grind a smidge off
the heads of the three jaw puller?

I hate when that happens.
This is the one I have, you have two sizes and can use it as a 2 arm puller.

More than I was hoping to spend, But it does look versatile.

I might just give that a shot... It has double ended arms, so even if the grinding messes up one end, i'll still have the other.

That’s what I would try ...unless it wa s a rental tool.

The one he posted is what Autozone or Advanced loans out; I’d give the free option a shot before you start grinding on your tools.

Have you tried tapping the puller that you can get a good grip on it with using a small hammer, sometimes the extra force combined with the gear puller will pop it off.
Also, no failure, you haven't broken the gear yet, right? No failure, just no success....yet

Did you hit it with a hammer? Dead serious. Getting some tension on it with the puller and then tapping it with a hammer usually works.

Yep, i did. Still didnt budge... But see the newer post: let it sit under tension for a couple hours while I had a beer and grumbled about how hard/expensive it would be to get a new gear if i broke it... And it came loose!
